![]() ![]() He emerged as one of the most prominent opponents of South Africa's apartheid system of racial segregation and white minority rule. Back in southern Africa in 1975, he served first as dean of St Mary's Cathedral in Johannesburg and then as Bishop of Lesotho from 1978 to 1985 he was general-secretary of the South African Council of Churches. In 1972, he became the Theological Education Fund's director for Africa, a position based in London but necessitating regular tours of the African continent. In 1966 he returned to southern Africa, teaching at the Federal Theological Seminary and then the University of Botswana, Lesotho and Swaziland. In 1960, he was ordained as an Anglican priest and in 1962 moved to the United Kingdom to study theology at King's College London. Entering adulthood, he trained as a teacher and married Nomalizo Leah Tutu, with whom he had several children. Tutu was born of mixed Xhosa and Motswana heritage to a poor family in Klerksdorp, South Africa. Theologically, he sought to fuse ideas from black theology with African theology. He was Bishop of Johannesburg from 1985 to 1986 and then Archbishop of Cape Town from 1986 to 1996, in both cases being the first black African to hold the position. Apologies if this is long winded or an obvious answer for those who know what they're doing.Desmond Mpilo Tutu OMSG CH GCStJ (7 October 1931 – 26 December 2021) was a South African Anglican bishop and theologian, known for his work as an anti-apartheid and human rights activist. Hey presto - no annoying broken shortcut that actually works. It only worked though if you added an entry in these two blocks. ![]() then merged the new file back into the registry. So I exported once of the blocks where the share was working, opened the exported file in Notepad and swapped the drive letter in the file for the mapped drive letter that was not working. "ProviderName"="Microsoft Windows Network" These two blocks contain info about each of the working shares. There are two points in the Registry where network paths are listed. none of the above worked for me - though I guess all could have and seemed sensible. > There's nothing in the MountingPoints2 key in the Registry > You can't use the command prompt to force a new share on the same drive letter > It isn't available in the drive list if you want try to map another drive over the top of it > mountvol M: /d - just says it doesn't exist > Right clicking and selecting "Disconnect" generated the error "This network connection does not exist."Īnnoyingly when it patently does exist and does get you to where you want it do - but just has a stupid red cross and the "Disconnected Network Drive" label - WTF !!! > But there's no path specified in the shortcut ![]() > Clicking on the link frustratingly takes you to the location on the network where it should be pointing > A mapped network drive that was reconnecting fine develops a red cross and is renamed "Disconnected Network Drive" The various answers suggest perhaps a lack ofĬlarity in the problem description - so her goes, restated. So I have to start by saying I absolutely do not know what I'm doing - but I am persistent - and have found an answer to the specific problem that generated this thread - and others around the internet. ![]()
